I just watched 'The Hospital' and this week it was on teenage mothers.
One of the questions from a Doctor to an expectant Vicky Pollardesque mother to be was 'Is the Father a blood relative?'
Perhaps the programe should have been called 'Deliverance'...

never watched it either, I have enough trouble with Holby and Casualty 
Some hardcore subjects are tackled in such things and alot of people helped - I remember Mark Fowler in Enders with the HIV storyline.
however these days the focus is on viewing stat's in soapland - doing the hard core storylines on a regular basis makes people think its the 'norm' scary...

This is a documentary series following a real life Hospital and the question that the real Doctor asked was from a genuine NHS form...!!!
Not really a TV watcher, but, it is an awful question to ask? Even though such things 'do' happen! Plenty of evidence re cousins..and the like, but I assume the inference could have been of a 'closer' relative! Awful question, none-the-less!

I think incest is probably far more common than you think. I encountered it as a community worker and I remember a Copper liaising with me telling me that it was prevelant on many of the big housing estates he'd policed over the years and not just from cousins but brothers and sisters and between parents and their children. My personal experience of seeing it was in a deprived environment of high unemployment and bad housing where unskilled and uneducated families that were a 'problem' had been lumped together in one area by the council as a solution. In the case that I saw there was a definate correlation with poor learning and developing abilities within the family concerned. Sad but I think that it's nothing new. I recently talked to a Lady in her late eighties and she told me a story of a family that was known for incest in her village before the war and nobody thought much of it let alone reporting it to the Police!!!
I agree entirely....with all the points you make...and share in some of your experiences as well! Interestingly I have noted the 'correlation' to which you refer in my own observations of life where I've lived and worked! This being the case, I would still not condone the question being asked in a programme such you watched..however, valid it might be...

I know I heard that too, I was doodling away when she said that, then I had to look at the TV and thought did I hear that right!?
